OVERVIEW

 
The Engineering and Public Works Department plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents of the Town of Oromocto by overseeing a wide range of services.  The department is comprised of six (6) divisions:
 

• Roads and Grounds                                                     
• Water and Sewer 
• Parks and Sports Facilities
• Engineering Services
• Building Maintenance (Facilities)
• Garage (Fleet)

The department also oversees the Town’s domestic animal control services.

Water & Sewer Division: 

• Utility Locates (Call before you dig – underground infrastructure)
• Water Distribution:
  • Water infrastructure, including piping, hydrants and the water tower
  • Water quality and services
  • Leak detection and repairs
  • Watermain flushing program
  • Quarterly meter reads
• Wastewater (sanitary) Services:
  • Wastewater infrastructure, including piping, manholes and treatment.
  • Lift (pumping) stations
  • Sewer pipe inspections, flushing and maintenance program

Building Maintenance Division: 

• Maintenance and renovation administration of Town-owned facilities
• Building Alarms and Securities management
• Street and Traffic light maintenance and repair
• Street signage
• Crosswalks and crosswalk signal devices
• Traffic radar devices
• Marina Docks and Fuel Services

Garage (Fleet) Division

• Routine inspections and maintenance of the municipal fleet of cars, trucks, heavy machinery and Fire response vehicles.
• Diagnostics and repairs
• Inventory management
• Parts and materials facilitation
• Snow equipment maintenance

Animal Control: 

 
Domestic Animal Control services for the Town of Oromocto are performed by the Animal Control/Protection Officer through the New Brunswick Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NBSPCA).

REPORT AN ISSUE

 
To help keep our town safe, we encourage residents to report any service-related incidents or concerns to the Engineering and Public Works Department. These may include issues such as a tree blocking the road, a streetlight or traffic light that’s not working, a pothole, etc. Our goal is to respond to routine requests as quickly as possible. This includes assessing the problem, determining the appropriate action, and scheduling any necessary work.
 
If it’s an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
