The Oromocto and Area Healthcare Recruitment Committee, established by Mayor Powell in 2022, is composed of dedicated, local, volunteer members. It is an advisory committee focused on addressing the critical need for primary care providers in the underserved Oromocto area.
The Committee focuses on promoting the benefits of healthcare workers practising in Oromocto, a welcoming town that actively supports Family Doctors and Nurse Practitioners through financial incentives, assistance and accessible workspace opportunities. To attract providers, members attend Resident job fairs and exhibit halls at continuing education conferences, while meeting monthly to refine strategies.

If you need assistance signing up for either of these prgrams, please visit the Fay Tidd Library at 54 Miramichi Rd, Oromocto NB E2V 1S2, staff will be able to help you access these resources using the library computors or your phone. You will need to bring a photo ID and your medicare card to access these programs. Please have these with you when you visit the library.
*Please note, actual online visits should not take place in the library, or usuing the library computers as it is not a private place for a medical appointment.
Further, the Committee reaches out to our community members, the business community and regional municipalities about the work being done by the Committee.
Committee members collaborate on a regular basis with area MLAs; stakeholders from Horizon Health, the Department of Health, and the Capital Region Service Commission to align strategies, advocate for resources and strengthen partnerships. All is done with the goal of bringing and supporting primary care providers with what they need to succeed in Oromocto.
