On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, the Town of Oromocto lost a highly respected leader, Chief Administrative Officer, Colonel (retired) John S. Fife, MSM, CD
“This news has come as a shock to all of us. John’s passing will be felt by many over the coming months. We extend our deepest sympathies and support to the Fife family including his wife Darlene, son Phillip and daughter Michelle and to his cherished colleagues in the public service,” said Mayor Bob Powell.
John recently accepted the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the Town this past year and was well regarded by Council and staff. He was a respected veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces, with over 26 years of service, one year with the provincial government and five years in the private sector. In his personal time John believed strongly in volunteering, giving back to his community. Many organizations over the years have been a beneficiary of his time and talents.
“When John was offered the job, he was thrilled! He really wanted to make a positive impact in his hometown where you grew up. His tireless efforts to do just that were a labour of love for him. He will be truly missed by all,” said Mayor Powell.
Flags at all municipal buildings are at half-mast in honour of John.
