Good news! The Town of Oromocto’s Engineering and Public Works team is now operating out of its new facility on Black Watch Avenue. It has been quite a summer with the flood waters forcing an early move out of the old compound, and into interim ‘lodgings’ at Kings Arrow Arena, and then in August, the team occupied the new building. Work at the new site continues and over the next 2 months landscaping, paving, fencing and the unpacking of all the team’s equipment will be completed.
Traffic will continue at the old site on Wood Street over the next few months as equipment and materials are moved, however, the public is asked to avoid the property for non-essential activities as access will be limited.
For those seeking organic waste drop of it is expected that the organic waste drop off site will transition to the new facility on Black Watch, after the paving is complete, in early October.
In order to celebrate, the Town of Oromocto is hosting an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am on 24 October – come on by to see the new Public Works building.
