Healthy, Active Aging Committee Established
Oromocto Town Council has an exciting volunteer opportunity for you! At Thursday evening’s Town Council meeting a new Age-Friendly Advisory Committee has been established. If you are interested in volunteering to foster the physical health and mental well-being of people as they age, the Mayor would like you to contact his office.
Mayor Powell commented, “This committee is not just for seniors. Volunteers will be selected from various backgrounds that will focus on enhancing the quality of life in our Town. This committee will advise Council on ways to optimize our community resources to support our residents as they age.”
Earlier in the week Mr. Bill Jarratt, the Director of Recreation and Tourism, outlined a plan that would see the creation of the new advisory committee that will guide the Town’s participation in the New Brunswick Age-Friendly Community Recognition Program.
Those interested in serving on the committee are asked to complete a volunteer application that can be found online at www.oromocto.ca/advisory-committees or they may drop into 4 Doyle Drive at the Municipal Offices to obtain an application.
