CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Oromocto, NB – 28 June 2022 – Following a comprehensive search, the Town of Oromocto has been successful in its hiring of a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Jackson to the position of CAO.

Mr. John Jackson assumed the interim responsibilities of the CAO while the Director of Planning and Compliance following the sudden passing of the former CAO, Mr. John Fife, in December 2021.  Council wants to express its extreme gratitude to Mr. Jackson for his service to the Town as our interim CAO, while still maintaining his responsibilities as the Director of Planning and Compliance.

Mr. Jackson will be responsible for contributions to the Town’s overall strategic plan.  He will oversee the implementation of Council’s decisions and policies; develop and monitor the Town’s operating and capital budgets; provide advice to council and staff; coordinate economic development and business attraction initiatives and coordinate planning and development within the Town.  He will also oversee strategic business partnerships and will report directly to Council.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mayor Powell said “John stepped into the role on short notice and has led our council and staff with dedication and integrity.  Through his effective interim leadership approach, services and priorities continued uninterrupted.  Council unanimously supported this appointment as John brings valuable know-how to the position with over twenty years of progressive management experience.  He will be a tremendous asset to guide Council and lead the Town’s management team through our local governance reform and into the future.”

Jackson commented “I look forward to working with Oromocto’s team of dedicated staff to advance Council’s priorities and look forward to the future and the challenging work ahead.  I am certain that together we will be able to continue to provide valuable service to the people who live, work and play in Oromocto.”
