Public Notice
The firm GDG Environnement will carry out a mosquito control program using a biological larvicide in our municipality.
An Info-mosquito line has been set up to answer citizens’ questions. 1-844-840-8700 or write to infomoustique@gdg.ca.
Please be advised that GDG Environment will pursue its program for the biological mosquito control in Oromocto and CFB Gagetown administrative facilities for the 2025 season. The goal of the program is to selectively control mosquito larvae in their aquatic habitats, before they emerge as biting adults. Ponds and pools where mosquito larvae breed will be treated from the ground and from the air with a biological insecticide (Bti). The operations will start around mid-April (depending on weather conditions) and will continue until September. Aerial operations only last a few days. A local team of trained and qualified personnel will perform treatment and monitor operations, in close collaboration with GDG Environment headquarters.
Bti is a very safe insecticide both for humans and for the environment. It is registered and used in Canada for the control of mosquitoes and black flies. The staff of GDG Environment proceeds in accordance with the highest safety standards, which prevents any exposure of the population to the product. In the environment, Bti is very safe because it selectively kills mosquito larvae and also because it is entirely biodegradable in a matter of a few days. GDG Environment will carry out all work with the authorization of New Brunswick Department of the Environment to conduct this type of program.
In the coming days, a team will begin monitoring breeding sites where mosquito larvae (Culicidae) develop. Following these observations, and depending on the weather conditions, the team will determine the precise date on which the first biological larvicide treatments will be carried out. Only environments where larvae are present will be treated. The larvicide used targets the generation of larvae present in the water but, since the biological product degrades quickly, subsequent treatments can be applied for the new generations during the season.
The control program allows a significant reduction of the nuisance caused by biting insects without affecting our ecosystems, including flora, fauna, and even other insect’s species that coexist. This allows us to live near rich humid environments, without experiencing the discomfort or having to constantly spray ourselves with chemical insect repellent. Our municipality has made the HEALTH choice to offer its citizens the opportunity to move and take full advantage of green spaces and outdoor activities.
During the season, if you have any questions, we invite you to use the “Info-mosquito” line at:

Please note that vehicles and employees will always display the GDG Environnement logo.
In order to improve the quality of service, here are recommendations that we make to citizens to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes in residential areas:
