Alzheimer Society of New-Brunswick (ASNB) satellite office to open in Oromocto
After meeting with the Alzheimer Society of New-Brunswick (ASNB) to explore mutual opportunities to further the age-friendly work underway, ASNB and the Town of Oromocto are pleased to inform you that the ASNB is coming to your community. ASNB will be offering a satellite office in collaboration with the Town of Oromocto in a meeting space located on the 3rd floor of the Municipal Offices located at 4 Doyle Drive.
Having heard from existing clients in Oromocto that travelling to participate in ASNB services is a barrier, we are very excited to be able to offer this satellite service one day a week, on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The goal is to increase public awareness about the Alzheimer Society’s programs and services, and to reach more individuals with dementia and their caregivers, as early as possible in the disease process. The ultimate goal is to reduce the incidence and intensity of crises, as well as caregiver exhaustion. This new engagement will draw attention to local community resources and strengthen key links between diagnosing physicians and community service providers.
The Town of Oromocto welcomes Tina Burns, a local Oromoctonian, a licensed practical nurse, and the Alzheimer Society’s First Link Coordinator for the Greater Fredericton area.
Please note that the Alzheimer Society runs a Caregiver Support Network on the 4th Tuesday of every month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Oromocto Special Care Home, on Mitchell Street.
